Ministry Of Education - ‘Soft Skills’…

So, a while ago I was engaged by Auckland production company Luke Nola & Friends to come on board as director for an educational series for The Ministry Of Eduction called ‘Soft Skills’. The basis of the series was framed around 5 teens from Manurewa High School who are each individually engaged in activities outside of school, which, unbeknownst to them, are making them really appealing to possible future employers. These skills are skills that cannot be ‘taught’ at school, they’re everyday life skills that the teens are unaware that they’ve developed. We spoke to some large corporates including Spark NZ, and AIR New Zealand, and they were amazed by the skills the teens have developed, and spoke about how their business models are changing, and how a degree isn’t required for some of their developing roles. They need employees who have a more rounded and holistic set of skills for their ever changing workplace.

It was a really great project to be involved in, really rewarding and fulfilling, so hopefully there’s the possibility of another series. I ended up coming onboard as the editor for the series as well, so it was all shot on FS7/GH4, and edited and tweaked in Adobe Premiere. The graphics were all hand made by the talented Ross Ozarka, and he did an outstanding job. Check the series here!
