ROLE: Technical Advisor, Co-Design, Core Community Engagement.
I was brought onboard by Isthmus Urban Design as a primary consultant for the BMX/Bowl elements of Victoria Park Skate Park in Auckland.
I designed the rough layout of the Bowl/BMX elements, ensuring that there was a good mix of medium to large transitions, a coping to coping spine, over vert taco, hips that were able to be used in both directions, and a deep 10 foot vert bowl.
We incorporated the existing wooden elements - a runway with 2 X 6 foot quarter pipes and a 6 foot box jump. This remains the only configuration of it's kind in New Zealand.
I worked alongside Skateboarders Chey Ataria & Justin Watene on the overall park design and layout. A key aspect that makes Victoria Park a destination skate park is the separation of the street/bowl areas, to ensure there is no cross-code contamination, and the easy access points that users can get to the various areas of the park.
